Darren Vincenzo

Darren Vincenzo is an award-winning comic book veteran. His work at DC Comics in the 1990's involved virtually all the BATMAN family of comic books, including the Eisner-award-winning BATMAN: GOTHAM ADVENTURES, BATMAN BEYOND (both based on animated Batman TV series), and DETECTIVE COMICS, the company's flagship title.

Darren also edited GREEN ARROW, and helped create the new character of the same name which revitalized the franchise, as well as bringing award-winning writer/director Kevin Smith into the Green Arrow fold. In addition, Darren was integral in introducing the new Batgirl to the comics world, where she immediately became a fan favorite.

Darren began working for DC Comics as a production artist in 1992 and quickly gained a reputation for excellence, becoming Assistant Production Manager. Within a year he moved to the editorial department, where he assisted on and then began overseeing a plethora of DC's top-selling titles.

In addition, he has written numerous comic book stories featuring Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Green Arrow and Steel. Now a freelance writer, his assignments over the past four years have included story development projects with Hasbro toys, numerous comic stories and video game projects for DC Comics. He also wrote the comic book adaptation of the BATMAN BEYOND: RETURN OF THE JOKER video.

Darren graduated from the University of Connecticut's School of Fine Arts and worked for several years running the art department for Praeger Publishers in New York City. He also did freelance illustration, design and the occasional painting. Recently he has conducted workshops introducing elementary school children to the comic book creation process and the art of storytelling.

Mr. Vincenzo lives in Connecticut with his wife, Francine, a former New York assistant district attorney, and their two children.
